The Test

Who would have guess that being accepted into a family relied on a piece of pumpkin pie. Well if you want to become a Dunithan it does. Lindsey had to pass the pumpkin pie test. She had to make a pie and bring it to a family get together for everyone to eat.
I don't think she realized what she was getting herself into. My Grandpa and Uncle Jeff set it all up... THE TESTING TABLE.
They got all set up with their testing tools and got their taste buds ready... poor lindsey!

Grandpa got the magnify glass out.

Jeff got the tape measure out to see... they compared the height of each piece to see if it was an even pie.

All I can say is it was a good thing I was born into the family... or was it? :)

As Grandpa tallies up the score...

Lindsey awaits her answer... and they told her that she had to make another one because they jsut weren't sure.

Let's just say there is never a dull moment at the Dunithan's

Update!

This last weekend I went over to Steve's house and we carved pumpkins. Aren't they scary! Then we cooked the pumpkin seeds. They were so good I haven't had pumpkin seeds in a long time.

I also just got glasses.. for reading only. I feel like a nerd with them but it helps so whatever works right?

As for my changing my major... I'm still a little stressed about it. But I have been thinking about it non stop and am pretty sure that I am going to go the photography route because it seems to fit into more of what I want out of life. I also think I would be alot happier doing that. I also have had a few people kind of confirm it. If I don't go into JUST photography I'll probably stick with it but add on advertising to it and be like and art director or something. I donno... just thought I'd update everyone.
Have a great weekend! :)

I can keep up somewhat with my scrapbooking now. Yay!

a "Major" decision

As you may know I've declared my major as Athletic Training, and I was planning on minoring in photography. The university and students here told me that its pretty much impossible to do both unless I want to be here forever. I like Ball State but not that much. Now I just don't know what I want to do and am very confused and a tid bit stressed about it. These are the pros and cons of each.

Athletic Training

I am really into sports and helping people. After having a my shoulder surgeries and helping out in the training room I absolutly loved it. It was alot of fun and I felt very useful. The only thing about it is that athletic trainers have TERRIBLE hours if you work in a school. I would want to work with kids and be involved with those sports. The reason kids in highschools do sports is basically for the love of it.. or at least that's the way I viewed it when I did sports. I want to work with people who aren't getting paid to be in sports. I also told myself I didn't want to go into physical therapy. After going through physical therapy myself.. It's just not something I see myself doing. Physcial therapists have great hours and get paid more. But 1. money doesn't matter to me and 2. I want to be doing something that I love

As for the college side of the major... I would be putting in alot of hours and a AT major told me that as long as this is my major forget about getting a job cuz you won't have any time. I know I'm here to get a good education but what the AT majors do here during their hours they have to put in is basically be the water boys or girls haha and that's not what I want to be!

Photography

Taking pictures is one of my passions... I was talking to an art major and he said art majors are alot of work as well. I realize that as well because art doesn't just create itself. I've already done one set of senior pictures and my brother and his finance's engagement pictures. I have so much fun messing around with photos on photoshop. (you could ask my roomie I'm always doing something new on photoshop) I get frusterated ALOT with my art but I always end up loving it in the end. My friend Justin who is an art major said that it's so different in college and your learn so many new perspectives of everything. I love other forms of art too but photography is by far my favorite. If I was a self employed photographer, which is what I would do if I chose the photography route, I would be able to set my own hours. That is one thing that I love.

This may sound kind of weird.. but I think about my future alot and really I don't care what happens to me career wise, I mean I do and I don't. As long as I'm a Mom someday that's all that really matters. Photography would be great to work out of my home and still be home with my kids.

The thing about photography is that I feel like the demand of photographers is going down. Not that there is really a "demand" but since basically everything is going digital alot of people are starting to take their own photos instead of getting a professional.

*********************

This blog kind of helped me vent a little... but still a little stressed! Any advice would be appreicated! If you want to see examples of my art work it's in a previous blog in March I believe under "Artsie Fartsie." Athletic training sorry no examples.. you can ask my roomie I guess, I tape her ankles =)

There is a career counseling here that is free I'm thinking about looking into that.. who knows?

Things that I love

These are all things that make me very happy!

PHOTOSHOP!!

It was just the four of us girls when we went out to eat.. We were waiting for the bus to come back and I wanted a picture of all four of us, but there was no one else around. SO I took a picture of the three of them and then one with Taylor and I and combined the photos on photoshop so it looks like we were all together. I just love it. You'll have to excuse the bad photoshop job on this picture I was in a hurry.

BABIES!! Little Kahler is so adorable.

Adie and Iaasc are two of my favorites as well!!

Last but DEFINATLY NOT least!

Ribs and a baked potato w/ butter sour cream and CHEESE =)

I could eat this meal for the rest of my life and be happy.
